It is no coincidence that the Green Mango Real Estate broker and owner, Carrie Bills, specializes in marketing homes in central Austin and the 78704 zip code -- she's lived there since 1987.

Carrie is from Newport Rhode Island where she began her real estate career in 1982.  Her first project was a fixer upper that she moved into and finished herself.  Because, in '82 mortgage rates were over 17% and money was tough to borrow.  Regardless, Carrie was successful in marketing and selling gilded era mansions, converting some into condominiums.  She marketed historical tax credit properties, preservation properties and became one of the leading agents in the area.  She also finished her own home.

In 1987, Carrie traveled to Austin to visit her sister Becky, and fell completely in love with the city. She returned to Newport, sold her house, packed her suitcase, and moved to Austin.  She began her real estate career in Texas and within a short time decided to start her own company. While trying to create a name for her new business, she thought about something a beloved friend in India had told her:  "Carrie means 'green mango' in Hindi."  So the name of her company became "Green Mango Real Estate."  Throughout the next few years Carrie focused her skills on becoming the area expert in central Austin real estate, and in the 78704 zip code, has sold more properties than any single realtor.  Carrie is well connected in the community and often knows about new listings before they're made public. These days, the majority of her business is repeat and referral.

Carrie lives in a beautiful historic home in Travis Heights that she bought in 1998 to provide a home and assistance for her nephews and nieces who are now well into adulthood. She has witnessed first-hand the growth and changes not only in her own family, but in the families of her clients, many of whom have become close friends.

Life's beginnings and endings all taking place over years of progression in the neighborhoods of Austin.
